What you can expect

Modern off-grid accommodations. Jen's Den is a mix of rustic and industrial design. A modern pole barn with living quarters above, nestled in 35 acres of lush forest. I will be your private tour guide and friend, transporting you from the airport, across a ferry to Drummond Island to a property set on 1,000 feet of water frontage on historic Scammon Cove.

We'll launch kayaks into the water and soak in the history of days gone by as we paddle over a sunken tug, Silver Spray, built in 1895. Listen to the pileated woodpeckers, see an eagle soar above, hear the prehistoric sounds of loons in the distance or surprise a swan or geese nestled in the tall sea grass. We'll paddle around the cove and see remnants of the lumber dock and mill. Glimpse at the old Wayfarer's Mart and Stone house which are the only remaining structures left from a once bustling town called Johnswood.

Depending on the prevailing winds and weather we will glide our kayaks into different locations around Drummond Island. Potagannissing Bay is the most popular spot where you'll see most of the boat action and recreation with small islands (mostly privately owned) and Harbor Island which is a national wildlife refuge. South west side of the island is Whitney Bay, which is another favorite spot to launch kayaks and boats, more small islands and some beautiful picturesque and quiet landing spots to view freighters navigating their way up and down the St. Mary's River. My personal favorite side of the island is the east side, you won't see many boats, people or activity on this side of the island but it has my favorite landing spots. It's pretty rough sometimes and rare to get a calm day but if you're up for some heart pounding adventure then this is it!
